Can someone tell me please if it is possible to run my laptop and all its components including photoshop, through a monitor and continue using my laptop as usual though viewing through a bigger external monitor?instead of upgrading to a bigger desktop version of Apple product, cheers.

Yes... but model of MacBook Pro will determine size of monitor etc.

this may be useful...

Brilliant, thanks very much Graham.I use a 17" mac book pro that cost me $8800 to get all the bells and whistles added on 6 years ago.My eyes are not what they were back then so need a bigger screen, thanks again.

just be careful around your selection of monitor.... with monitors, price does often reflect the quality... clarity and colour on monitors often does not represent the photograph well.. even with reducing vision! The MBP has outstanding quality output.. many screen cannot cope...
That aged MBP will probably not have DVI output ( digital ).

Hi
Let me check with my work colleagues as to which monitors are preferred amongst the many designers/ labs that we work with... tho many of those units are hooked on to newer MBPs.

Unlimited budget?.... the Apple display..that then becomes a hub for other plug-ins... tho older models do come up e.g.
Remember with LED/LCD fade or burning does not occur as with CRT screens - hence a longer life.

I'll get back to you.. maybe off forum - since others may have no interest...

FYI Apple stopped producing the 24" Display in 2010... current model is 27"...

Have you considered moving to a new (or near new 27" iMac)? your world will get must faster and clearer...

Keep your MBP for travel, but use the iMac for processing.

At this point I will declare that I am with an Apple Reseller (amongst other vendors).. but have no intention of seeking a sale... just hoping to put informed options in front of you for consideration.

A whole new view of life! I hope it gives you years of good use.

Funny... screens on computers are a bit like tyres on cars... or indeed, additional lenses on good quality camera bodies... we sometimes compromise on quality and end up with not the best outcome...

Best wishes
