Just the 2 questions for now...Will there only be 3 image sizes for clients to purchase, small, medium and large or will the x and xx sizes still be made available?

And.. a screen (and incentives) for photographers to prune 'lesser' images from their portfolios, does this mean we will be able to delete our own images?

Otherwise your upgrades to the site look promising and interesting, congratulations MCB.

Thanks William

On the first question, all sizes which the image is large enough for will continue to show as options.

On deletion, the envisaged deletion process is a progressive one, in which a photographer can mark an image for deletion after which it is not longer shown for new searches. But it will still be available for a period to download for customers who have it in an existing light box, have downloaded a preview of it, or know its number. Some time later it would be permanently archived.

Will the purchaser continue to see a thumbnail of the image being considered, as they move to the Image size/ price page?

Would it be more sensible to list both the $$ price per size and also the Credits needed.. for the purchaser to see the options in front of them? .. see screen shot.. with Tab option to see each value.

From your newsletter:

"... a process through which photographers can request images be considered to be offered for exclusive use licencing by customers...

then, once the stock of available exclusive use images is sufficient, the release of a system for customers to search for and licence selected images on an exclusive use basis"

Is the thinking here about a "time stamp" use period (e.g. 3 months) for a cost premium or an outright exclusive use of the image from the point of request onwards...ie the image would be withdrawn from the library?

If the latter, the photographer would need to be engaged in the price setting formula .. you may think the exclusive use is worth $500.. the photographer may think $1500 to "put it to sleep"... should be interesting negotiating....

One site asks the photographer to name their "exclusive use" price as they submit their image for acceptance (although can be edited by the photographer at any time.... i.e. as realism sets in...!)

Cheers, Graham

Thanks Graham

Been very busy today assisting a number of actual and potential customers, so a bit slow to reply. Good sales day though!

On the image sales screen questions and comments, yes the image will continue to be shown and the other current keyword etc data - the visual is just a closeup of the intended RHS top.

The idea, from a customer service viewpoint, of showing both NZ$ and credits at the same time is interesting and certainly has merit. After exploring visually a number of options we have instead gone the direction of showing only one or the other payment system at a time in the interest of simplicity. Also we intentionally show just NZ$ by default, as it is the easiest system for new customers to use, and we prefer that system being used too due to its lack of discounts - benefiting both photographers and mychillybin going forward. If customers are keen to access discounts by using credits that is available with 1 click. Most customers will consistently use only one of these payment methods, and the system should be able to be made to default to their individual preference for all of a session (if not to next login as well), giving them a simple clear screen of relevant information.

Now as to the interesting comment on approaches to exclusive use, very pleased to have comments about different approach on this forum. And yes the tension between money being left on the table - versus losing the sale through pricing too high or with too much user effort requirement or delay, is a key issue. But too early yet for mychillybin to disclose the intended approach on this publicly accessible forum.

$1 million, or $4 million, we can dream of course, and chase our dreams!

Appreciate your comments very much too.

Reflecting on the growing importance of the descriptive line (for searches in particular).. will you be making it possible for the photographer to edit their own description on existing images in the library?

Yes sure - photographers (who know most about the image) will populate both the titles of new images when uploading them, and will also be able to review existing titles as they wish.
