Sunnysleeper ... sure ... we do not think so much about how many words, but whether all the words present are helpful for image searchers, and all the helpful words are included.

In essence the question for each and every word is if you used "this" word to search for images, would you be pleased that you found this image in the results.

Here is one way to go about keywording ...

A good keyword list can comprise ...

* nouns (i.e. the names of everything seen in the image),

* the words 'people' and 'person' if there are 1 or more people and also ages specific people words (e.g. child, elderly etc),

* verbs (words describing any actions evident in the image),

* words to describe any suggested emotions (e.g. bewildered or thoughtful),

* any metaphor ideas (e.g. single flower in the road for resilience or good luck),

* any innuendo suggested,

other words relevant to the specific image.

Not also that when words are used toghtether, they got together as a keyword. e.g. South Island, not South, Island,

Hope these ideas help. The best way to sell lots of images is to take the images that the market wants, rather than to try and have long semi-relevant keyword lists.

Some of the best selling photographers on mychillybin have relatively short and obviously relevant keyword lists e.g. 10 - 15.

Others may have comments too ...

cheers for now

Thanks for the reply. Good info well worth remembering.

But it would be great if you could give us a precise answer for the maximum amount of words or perhaps characters we can use in the keyword column before the auto prompt appears notifying me I have too many keywords in the column.

Cheers

Think i know what you mean Craig,i'd say 40 keywords would max it out.If that many keywords doesn't describe your image, well how many will. But i know where your coming from as i've been there before and there hasn't been a definitive number to my knowledge.

Cheers for that. 40 words should do it for sure! Although isn't there a saying about a picture saying 1,000 words.......
