Golden hour lighting Nov 12 winners

WINNER
The winning image is Wharfside cranes at the Port of Wellington, lit by morning light. From Myles Andrews.

This image uses the first rays of morning light to give the subject real punch, as the light is not yet on the other elements. Great colour, and a composition that works well with 2 (who said it always needs to be 1 or 3). Great job Myles. $100 cash - for a golden hour cafe breakfast? Also prime placement of this image in a limited print run Golden Hour Calendar to be produced next week for competition entrants.

SECOND
Second place is awarded to Boys play in garden at golden hour from Thadeus (Steve Hussey).

Superb lighting here - achieving the difficult task of well lit faces at the same time as a nicely backlit aura, halo or glow around each head. Complemented wtih a golden flare that guides attention diagnoally into the subject. Natural expressions complete the result. Priority placement in the calendar for this image too, and $75 perhaps for a family breakfast under the golden arches?

Golden Hour Lighting Calendar
A limited print run 2013 calendar will be produced next week featuring these 2 images and at least 10 more images from the golden hour lighting competition images and relevant existing mychillybin stock. FInished size A4, open size A3. Most images A4 size. Three complimentary copies will be sent free of charge to all photographers who had images accepted in the November golden hour lighting competition, for them to use in promoting mychillybin. If other photographers would like a copy, (or if entrants want extras), copies are available at $18.50 each (including postage and gst) and will be sent to those who request such by email by midnight on Tuesday 18 December 2012. These should go in the post Thursday 20th December along with an invoice for payment by 1 Jan 2013. Enjoy!

December 2012 Competition
Kiwi man or men (losely between 18 and 88). We seem to get more female than male images, so a chance to even up the balance this month. Entries in from Pierre and Jade so far - likely to be good odds this month given the busyness leading into Christmas.

January 2013 Competition
Holiday inaction or in action (no more than 1 of any 3 to include a beach in the image, but tents on grass or boats at sea for instance are ok). Images without people are fine such as a flat tyre and all the holiday boot contents spread out by the road to get the spare out!
