October 2012 winners - Generations (2 or more, and human)
The chillys are real pleased with all the 10 images entered and accepted into the library - see them all by searching for 2 generations, or at this link.

WINNER

The winner is Generations of Descendants (below) by Kathleen Shepherd.

This image features at least 3 generations in a ceremony that we seem to attend all too frequently as we age.  Thank you Kathleen and your family for sharing an image of something so special, and trust that it will be used for good purposes in the days ahead.

We notice the way attention is focused on the burial with different people showing respect and loss in their own way. The clasped hand and flower, etc. The loss centrally represented by the open grave. The fascination of the child on the right, which is the way children of that age react.  It all says natural, and real.  Composition with thirds elements and differential focus both support the central subject of the photo.  A treasured image.  $100 on its way to you, and another $100 to buy some extra goodies for the next extended family get together.

SECOND
Another winner is very hard to select as so many have great natural engaging expressions or other distinct creativity, and will likely sell well over time too, and couple of great sets of 3 entered as well.

So a point of difference or special zing or magic is needed - and so we can not go past Aldente (Alistair Lang's) Grandfather and Granddaughter Blow Bubbles Together.

Probably most kiwis will recall with warm emotion an activity like this  - either as the child, friend, parent or grandparent.  And be warmed by the open excitement that shows in the child's eyes.  The magic of the bubbles with their floating colours really enhance the overall effect, and the differential focus brings attention firmly to the girls face.   The bubble over the grandfathers face some may love and others loathe, but we certainly have beencaptured by the stunning overall effect, as we resond to the girl seeking eye contact with us.  Another great image Alistair, and $100 on its way to you.

Thanks again to all others - and hope your images too sell real well.

November 2012 Competition
6 golden entries in already - great job.  Here for more details if you have missed these.

December 2012 Competition
Kiwi man or men (losely between 18 and 88).  We seem to get more female than male images, so a chance to even up the balance this month.  Get your camera and hunt down those men wherever they are (or in some cases yourself).

January 2013 Competition
Yes it is almost 2013.
Holiday inaction or in action (no more than 1 of any 3 to include a beach in the image, but tents on grass or boats at sea for instance are ok).  Images without people are fine such as a flat tyre and all the holiday boot contents spread out by the road to get the spare out!

Appreciate all the great images that keep coming in - obviously you all enjoy photography as much as we do!

cheers for now
