Hi all

Has the price of fuel or insurance ect affected you in the way you do your photography?for me fuel and insurance and now rates going up again where i am for starters are confining me more to local shots, which is rather boring in a flat canterbury town.So i'm proposing that MCB come to the rescue of us poor or struggling people and run a weekly/monthly competition for photographers to submit images of the chillys choice..could be along the lines of children in class, grasshoppers, the moon...their choice.and the images they require would roll in and also give people a boost in confidence,perhaps.Weekly/monthly prize to consist of $100 credit to winning photographers account, probably monthly to be fair ..what do you think??,cheers.

Thanks Canon S I

Appreciate your suggestion. If others are keen too, some monthly challenges/competitions can certainly be organised.

Excellent, thanks chillys, this way you get the images you want and we get a chance to win some extra dosh.Perhaps those 30 odd people that have read this and left no reply might want to do so now, thanks again.

Definitely keen on competition/contests as they help the creative focus and it would be nice to see more MCBers partaking in them when you host them.

I'm working on saving up the funds I need to upgrade my camera gear. My Canon 400D has and is still doing me well, but after more than 70,000 shots I yearn for something a little later..a little better...

Always keen for a competition, providing the subject matter is sufficiently interesting enough.

There you go,living evidence of people saying nothing to help us out ...Thanks Scene Stealer, you are a gem.

My words may have been harsh to some but my comments are gaining more votes.May have been 1 more vote but that's 50% of the total thus far .

It seems that the proposed reactivation of photo comps, suggested by Canon S I, may have been affected by the great autumnal silent majority, as last year comps were well received.

The great thing about silent majorities is that we can always assume that they are supporting us! Anyway Canon S I, Kiwiangel, Fatspat, Kathleen, and Scene Stealer are definitely enough to make this fun and worthwhile, and others will likely join as well.

Lets get this kicked into action next week.

We are thinking about the first monthly subject, for May, being 'Making ...'.
Making whatever you like. By way of example only, making asphalt, or bread, or coffee, or deliveries, or earrings, or a fuss, or gnomes, or houses, .... or a proposal or presentation, or quarrels, or retribution, or scenes, or tracks, or up, or vases, or whipped cream, or zucchini curry or z charts.

Hopefully that is wide ranging enough to cater for all to come up with a good Kiwi context, and able to focus creative juices.

More details on Monday.

cheers for now

Wonderfully creative subject, MCB! Bravo! I am very much looking forward to seeing the details and seeing what I can come up with. This is going to be interesting to see people's interpretation and inspiration. I hope it garners lots of participation.

Canon s i : thanks for the offer, but it's not what I'm after at this stage (and I'm only at the beginning of my saving up, too....long ways to go).
