Hi There
Is it just me - or does anyone else find it annoying that Landscape Format Images are faithfully reproduced in your slideshows, but anything Portrait Format is selectively cropped by someone.
It seems a biased presentation and a bit lazy by the site developer.
Remember that anyone looking to fill an A4 or A5 page is ideally looking for a Portrait Image
Can it be fixed?
Feels a bit unprofessional for an otherwise simple and easy to navigate Photo Libary site.

I'm sure one of the team can inform us but I don't think you will find someone has cropped your image, it most likely is the slideshow programe.
I know at our club if we put a portrait in over the size of the display of the data projector the photos looked cropped, but the original is'nt. We have to present our images at a certain size, no longer than 1024px and no higher than 768px for what the projector is set at otherwise images get auto cropped.
For here I would imagine there is a size the display will display even though your image is still the original size.
But yes I agree, the display of photos needs to be set at what the whole image is, as the customer might not see the full impact of the image and could by-pass for something else.
Kathleen.

Hi Kathleen
I'm aware that the Image isn't actually physically cropped - it would just be nice to view it as the photographer intended - rather than having the slideshow arbitrarily removing the top and the bottom the image. It can't be very hard

Thanks for these points - we are always keen to find ways to improve.

We must admit to having cropped some portrait images to gain more width in fitting them into the available landscape slideshow box rectangle - and apologise for this. The full normal image is seen as soon as the slideshow iamge is clicked, but of course not until then.

Looks like we had better skip the portrait images for the slideshow until we modify the available slideshow space. thanks again. Will fix this for the new images due up Monday morning. the chillys.

If you make it a square black box - you can centre the image - landscape or Portrait - and nothing need be cropped

yes - thanks for that idea - that would work very well technically - not at all sure though that it would work in terms of the overall page layout which is all geared around a large landscape image in that position at present? the chillys
