warm comp, and more ...
18 entries processed and accepted for the warm competition.  A great variety of ways have been deployed to convey warm. See them all by searching for 'warm competition' with Editorial selected.  The challenge as always, is to visually convey New Zealand as well.

Probably the most technical link to warm came from Graham Prentice's absolutely delightful Advection Fog in Auckland, with Mt Hobson Peaking Through. Just sufficient land and trees in view to 'ground' the image as in New Zealand.  For those who are rusty (like the chillys) on advection fog; Advection fog is formed by the slow passage of relatively warm, moist, stable air over a colder wet surface.  So there is the warm link for the mariners, meteoroligists and mountaineers etc.  The colours of the sky add some warmth too, but the gof warm connection perhaps a touch remote (probably this is controversial) for many audiences.

Another image meticulously presented, as with all his work, was Girl Surrounded by Bubbles, Enjoying the Warmth of the Bath, from Alistair Lang.  Look at those eyesDespite its strong impact as an image, and ability to arrest attention and hence sell, somehow this does not look really warm, perhaps due to the colours, or to the experience of cold bubble on top of a hot bath?  Great image, and has impact.

For cute it is hard to beat the Fox Terrier keeping warm at the beach #102544_946.  Better stop these mentions here, or we will comment on great aspects of them all.

With the subject being warm, and the need for a visual Kiwi link, the selected winning image is Woman Warming Herself by a Campfire, set on a beach, from Pippa de Court.  The driftwood log flames look nice and warm, and the exposed hands adds a human warmth elements that most would relate to.  The quirky driftwood post and beach setting, with is that a beach chair in the distance, make this a very natural Kiwi image to the chillys.  Well done Pippa $150 on its way to your account.

A big thanks to everyone for taking part and we hope your images sell.
new site functions
- released today
Some new site functions are being worked on at present, with the first coming live today.  When uploading images there is now a field that you can fill with a reference number/text that makes sense to you for each individual image.  This is optional of course.  If you do include your own reference code, it will be included back to you in the moderation email when you receive that, and will also be visible when viewing your images in your Profile Area (top right).

While implementing this reference number, the order of the boxs for Description and Keywords has been reversed, to make them the same as on the main screen - this seeming more logical.  And general layout has been tidied a bit.

You will likely have noticed that a Title field is now being included for all images.  The chillys write the title for the image, seeking to intentionally rephrase and sometime shorten the material provided by photographers in their descriptions.  The chillys also seek to achieve a degree of difference between titles for images in the library - not having too much repitition.  Don't think that the chillys are seeking to improve on your description, rather they are seeking to describe the image in a second and different way.

If you know a title placed on one of your images is not correct, or if it is not to your liking, then please edit the title to improve it - you can do this in your Profile Area.

new site functions - coming next
Next site improvement planned, is to allow photographers to see and edit descriptions and keywords etc whilst images are waiting to be moderated ... more on this soon.

next competition
Will run another competition soon - any suggestions for subject, pop them in the forum.

keywords
If you have images that would make great wall art, please include 'wall art' as a keyword phrase.  Once there is a suitable bank of these we will do some marketing into this market segment.
Thank you again, for all the great images.

cheers for now
