may 2013 competition - Teenage (people, music, culture, mess or whatever).
Another 10 great images accepted as part of this competition.  See them all at this link, or search with Editorial ticked, for 'teenage comp'.

The teenage subject, although found challengeing by some, did provide lots of room for different approaches, which the submissions have taken advantage of.  From karen's great Goth to graffiti, and kites to kips in the sun.

Alistair's kite image has great composition, and leads the eye nicely with the distant figure and light, in a typical kiwi context, and a thoughtful keyword list.  Seems at the young end of the teenage range.  Great image.

Sandy Millar's images of the teenager in front of the graffiti also impressed, with effective thirds composition and a relevant teen context.  Being very fussy, the focus was not quite as crisp on the eyes as desired, but a strong entry.

The young woman reading in the shade, from Stu Hastie combines great foreground and distant interest, and for some reason seems a more typically NZ image than the skater in the sky with its nonetheless high energy, and superb lighting highlights.  Being picky again, there is something about the girls pose however that is just not quite relaxed.

The winner this month is the natural teenage/wall leaning pose from Mark Meredith.  This pose supplemented with the leading lines and detail in the floor boards which give flow from inside to outside, and the ornate fretwork, adding more interest and character  This character and the sea beyond provides a great New Zealand context for this classic teen pose.  Loss of detail in the distance associated with achieveing the silhouette effect can be controversial at times, but does not detract unduly to the chillys in this composition.  Well done Mark $200 heading to your account.

Sorry we could not comment on them all.  Lets see what the market thinks.  You agree, or think a different image should have won? Let us know on the forum, and what is great about your choice.

June Competition - Human Hand, or Feet or Eyes - open till the end of this weekend
Subject for June is something that can be taken indoors or outdoors.  Human Hands, or Feet or Eyes. Fifteen entries in at present with 2 photographers taking advantage so far of the limit of 4 entries allowed this month.  Looks like the Chillys will enjoy processing these images - with their great creativity.  Lets see if the chillys can respond too to William's timely request on the forum for faster processing of the results.

Really appreciate all the images that keep coming in - it is the quality of these images that keep our customers coming back and new ones joinging, and gives us such strong sales volumes as has been the case in June.

cheers for now
